Application Process

With the exception of the transfer of vehicle licence, all our licence applications must be applied for via the online applications portal. To be able to apply, you will need to create an online account which can be used for all application types and have a valid email address. Watch our video for more information about applying online.

Once you have registered your details on the portal, the application process includes links to apply for a DBS form, apply for a knowledge test and book appointments with both the office and Council garage.

Payment of the application fee for all application types is now online. If for any reason you cannot pay online the Taxi office will discuss other options with you which may include paying via chip and pin devices during an office appointment or card payment over the phone. Please be advised that we do not accept cash or cheques.

Please note that the taxi licence team do not see your application until you have pressed submit and paid the application fee. Once your application has been submitted, you will receive email updates on your application and when your application has been accepted you will receive an email containing a link to book an appointment to collect your vehicle plate or driver badges and paper licence from the office.

Please do not attend the office without an appointment as we operate an appointment only policy.
