Regular Activities
Grounds Open Days: Every Wednesday in February and March. 1:00-4:00pm
Explore the grounds and enjoy our snowdrops and other winter flowers starting to emerge. Warm up with a hot drink in our tearoom. Please note that the house will not be open. Free entry, no need to book.
Craft Club: Every Wednesday 10:00-12.30pm (excluding school half terms and holidays). Bring your knitting and crochet projects or anything else you may be working on! We will have jigsaws and games available and throughout the coming months in some of the sessions we will explore different natural arts and activities to help with feelings of calmness and creativity! Open to all ages, everyone welcome. £1.00. No need to book.
Little Acorns Breastfeeding Network infant feeding drop-in support session. Every Wednesday 12.30pm – 2pm (excluding half terms). Drop-in support group creating a free, safe space for parents to meet other parents, ask questions and access evidence-based information on all aspects of breastfeeding/chest feeding and infant feeding for babies of all ages. Ideal For All Coffee Mornings: Every Wednesday 11:00-1:00pm. Ideal For All support the independence of disabled people living in Sandwell. These groups are an opportunity to have some social time with others in a similar situation to yourself. We run a coffee morning every week at Oak House for anyone who would like to catch up with old friends and make new ones. A friendly atmosphere where you will be welcomed with tea/coffee, biscuits and a smile. Free Entry.
Early summer fun
Nature Makers: Suitable for early years and home school children up to 10 years old, 25 June, 16 July, 20 Aug. Nature Makers go through the seasons learning about nature and the environment through fun nature art, craft, stories, outdoor play and exploring. Materials are always plastic-free, natural, eco-friendly and vegan where possible. Our sessions in the beautiful Oak House grounds and Old Barn develop not only creativity and wellbeing but also to support sensory processing skills and other skills.
The House and grounds are open from 11am-4pm on Wednesdays so you can bring a picnic and stay for longer, enjoy our house and grounds and our sandpit and playground. Entrance to the site is free. Birmingham Jazz and Blues festival at Oak House and other museum sites.
Join us as we are part of Birmingham Jazz and Blues festiaval once again this year. Come along for some FREE live music at our museums. Information regarding artists to follow.
Friday 18th – Bromwich Hall – 19:30pm – Slide Boy Roy. Slide Boy Roy is a blues and a roots rock n roll band, free just turn up (tea and coffee being served only you are welcome to bring your own picnic)
Saturday 19th – Bromwich Hall – 12:00 – The Shufflepack. Five guys who set out to play swinging R&B and shuffling blues. That’s proper R&B kids, not RnB, that funny new stuff they do now. What you get is a taste of 1950s Chicago, with a bit of 1940s here and there. Free just turn up. (tea and coffee being served at the bar only, you are welcome to bring your own picnic), Free Just turn up
Sunday 20th – Oak House – 12:00 – The Good Stuff TBC - The Good Stuff is an immersive live gospel-soul act featuring a 14-piece live band of singers and musicians performing a wide variety of reworked gospel, neo soul, RnB and pop anthems - sit in the grounds and birng your picnic, Free just turn up
Friday 25th – Wednesbury Museum & Art Gallery – 19:00 –Vee-Jay King and his Dukes serve up a glorious mix of West Coast Rhythm and Blues and the Swamp Blues of Louisiana. (tea and coffee being served, you are welcome to bring your own picnic to enjoy at your table) Free, just turn up
Saturday 26th – Wednesbury Museum & Art Gallery – 12:00 – Alan Barnes & Dave Newton. Alan Barnes and David Newton have been playing duets together for over 40 years. These multi award-winners cover a vast repertoire from Louis Armstrong to Chick Corea and play with an empathy that can only come with long experience. The emphasis, as always, is on swinging, accessibility and interplay (tea and coffee available, you are welcome to bring a posh picnic to enjoy at your table. Free, just turn up
Sunday 27th – Haden Hill House – 14:00 – Chickenbone John & Harmonica Dave King of the three string (and sometimes only 2 or 4) cigar box guitar. Chickenbone John’s guitars are hand made in Smethwick by John himself. Bring a picnic and picnic blanket or chair and sit on the grass and enjoy. Free just tuen up.

Seaside Fun Day: Tues 12 August. 11am-3pm. Bring a picnic and enjoy our seaside themed fun, make a kit to play with on the beach and the fly it on our meadow, see the Punch and Judy shows and enjoy games with Go-Play Sandwell
Make a Kite, fly your kits: Weds 13 August. 11am-3pm. Join us and make a kite then fly it on our meadow. Also enjoy our trail around the site
Go Play Sandwell: Tuesday 19 August. 11am-4pm, Enjoy games with Go Play, crafts and trails
Nature Fun: Wednesday 20 August. Join nature makers for a fantastic session get inspired by our lovely grounds and then create some great nature art. Small charge to join in, pre-booking essential at https://www.nature-makers.co.uk/schools-and-nurseries. Sandwell naturalists will also be here for you to join in their bioblits to see what wildlife we can spot in our grounds. You can also enjoy our wildife trail.
Crafty Creatures: Tuesday 26, and Wednesday 27 August 11.30am-3pm, drop in and use our boxes and crafty bits and bobs to create your own garden creatures and insects to take home.
