Information on visiting Oak House and general opening times

Please note that due to conservation building work, Oak House and the grounds immediately around the house will be closed until May. The Old Barn, Visitor Centre and Playground will be open as normal from 30th March and for events as advertised below throughout this period and events will continue in this area. 
 

Wellbeing Workshops from March 5. Every Tuesday 12.30pm except school half terms and holidays. Grounds open at 11am. Open to all ages, everyone welcome. Take a moment out of your day, enjoy a peaceful walk in the grounds and see what wildlife you can spot. In our warm classrooms you can have a hot drink and drop into our relaxing free wellness workshops. Over the weeks this will include drawing, painting, clay modelling, creative writing and much more. We will have jigsaws and games available and plenty of time to chat and explore different arts and activities to help with feelings of calmness and creativity. Free Entry. Battle on the Heath: 26th March 11:00-3:00pm Come and learn about the Turton family during the 17th century and hear about the battle of Stourbridge Heath that members of the Turton family fought at 420 years ago today! Visit our 17th camp, with cooking demonstrations on an outdoor campfire (weather permitting) and look real historic items such as musket balls and 17th tokens. Other activities include historic board games, pike drills and a chance to paint your own Civil War soldier (suitable for older children). Free Entry. Small charge for craft activities. St George: Sunday 21st April 11:00-2:00pm Come and see our knight in armour and learn about the real St George. Take a look at our Roman handling collection and enjoy crafts and trails. Green Man Day: 12 May 11:00-4:00pm Celebrate with us at our annual Green Man event with Tudor music from Paul Baker/Diabolus, Sedgley Morris dancers, Tudor dancing with Gloriana and a bioblitz event with Sandwell Valley Naturalists. Lots of fun, games and craft activities for all ages. Tea room open. 

Pirate Week at Oak House: 27,28,29, 30 May 11:00-3:00pm Come dressed as a pirate this half term and enjoy our pirate themed crafts and trails.  Small charge for craft activities. Tea room open.
