Sandwell residents are being reminded to make sure they are eligible to vote in the May elections.

The deadline for registering to vote in time for the three elections happening in May is midnight tomorrow (Tuesday 16 April).

Anyone who is not already registered to vote, or who has moved house or changed their name since they last voted, can register online. It only takes five minutes and you will need your National Insurance Number.

In order to vote, you must be registered, be at least 18 on the day of the elections, and have British, EU, Irish or qualifying Commonwealth citizenship.

The deadline for applying for a postal vote for the May elections is 5pm on Wednesday 17 April and for a proxy vote, the deadline is 5pm on Wednesday 24 April.

Voters are also reminded that they must show photographic ID if they're voting at a polling station. Free ID is available for those who don't have any valid photographic ID, and the deadline for applying for that is 5pm on Wednesday 24 April.
