  1. Why do I have to pay an application fee, and is it refundable if the transaction does not complete for any reason?
    The application fee covers the Council's professional administration costs in investigating the matter and may only be refundable in exceptional circumstances.
     
  2. If I ask to purchase council land using the "Need more space" enquiry form, and you tell me the land is not available, can I appeal this decision?
    There is no appeals process for this service, however you will be advised why the land is not available to purchase.
     
  3. I have applied to lease a commercial property.  How long after the closing date will I know whether or not I am successful and do I need to call you?
    You will be advised either way usually within two weeks of the closing date, there is no need to call us.
     
  4. Do I need to appoint my own solicitor to act on my behalf in connection with any proposed property transaction?
    You are strongly advised to appoint your own solicitor.  The Council has its own in-house Legal Services Team but the in-house team will not be able to provide any advice to you.
      
  5. You do not have any properties available to suit my business needs.  How can I find a suitable property?
