Bins and waste services - weekly update

We are expecting cold weather over the coming weeks. Snow and ice can prevent collection vehicles accessing some streets and make it dangerous for collection staff.  Where this is the case your bin collections may be affected.

Our crews have been out working this week, but due to the icy conditions on pavements and side roads they may not have been able to empty your bins safely.

If the bins in your street have not been collected, please take them in and crews will return on your usual collection day next week.

If you cannot fit all rubbish inside your grey bin next week, one extra bag will be collected alongside your bin on this occasion. Flatten and crush recycling items to fit as much in your blue lid bin as possible. If you have any extra recycling, please put it inside one clear bag next to your bin.

Thank you for bearing with us during this exceptionally long cold spell. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Advice on finding licensed/registered waste carriers and reporting fly-tipping. You can check this with the Environment Agency on 03708 506 506.

Burning rubbish

Please be considerate to others and do not burn rubbish in your gardens. Garden fires are dangerous and can get out of control. You can report an ongoing bonfire problem here.

Other advice and information:

  • Leave your bins out at the edge of your property by 6.45am.
  • Make sure all rubbish and recycling is inside bins and that the bin lids are closed. Recycling should be placed loosely in the blue lid bin and not in bags.
  • Park considerately outside your homes so that our lorries can access your street and empty your bins.
