UK Targets
In 2019, the UK government committed to become net zero by 2050. Net zero means the amount of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere must be balanced with the amount removed naturally by the planet or by human efforts. This is to slow down and eventually stop the Earth heating up beyond normal temperatures and causing global disruption.
Our Climate Change Strategy and Action Plan detail our plans for the Borough.
