Why are there still delays even though the snow and ice have gone?
Even when roads appear improved, delays can still occur. When collections are dropped, crews have to complete both the backlog and the scheduled work the following day.
In Sandwell we collect around 41,000 bins a day, so, even with all crews out the following day to collect the scheduled collections, we then need to look at anything that needs to be revisited with overtime or support crews, there’s only so much we can catch up in a day due to driving hours and resource available. This means one missed day can take several days to fully recover.
