West Midlands Police
West Midlands police have an excellent online resource which gives targeted advice around modern slavery. Access the webpage here
If you think you know people who are being brought to the West Midlands and forced to work as slaves, please report it to us by using West Midlands Police Live Chat facility, which can be accessed by clicking the button on the right of the screen. You can see our chat opening hours here.

The Unseen App
Use the Unseen App to make reporting to the Helpline even easier. The App provides a simple guide to recognising the signs of modern slavery and reporting concerns in confidence to free more victims of slavery. The app was developed for Unseen by the Helpline’s founding partner BT and can be found by searching ‘Unseen UK’ in app stores now.
You can report anonymously.
Crimestoppers
If you want to report this crime anonymously, you can do so by visiting the Crimestoppers website. Crimestoppers are an independent charity and calls won’t be traced or recorded.

The SAFE CAR WASH APP
The Safe Car Wash app is a new tool that will enable the largest community intelligence gathering exercise ever attempted in the United Kingdom.
Download the free app onto your smartphone. When you are using a hand car wash, simply open the app and complete a short survey about the working conditions of the car wash.
Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority
The Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA) has police-style powers that allow them to investigate all labour market offences. These include: gangmaster offences, non-payment of the National Minimum Wage, forced and compulsory labour and any associated trafficking and other modern slavery offences.
The GLAA relies on your information so please let them know about any form of labour abuse, employer or labour provider you think could be exploiting workers in the below fields:
Agriculture (including horticulture)
Shellfish gathering
Food and Drink processing and packaging

First responders
All agencies and organisations who find themselves with grounds for concern that a person may be a victim of modern slavery has a responsibility to identify the person as a possible victim and put them in touch with the responsible authorities and support providers.
Only organisations classed as first responders can refer a potential victim of modern slavery into the National Referral Mechanism. See the list below:
