You can view job vacancies for Sandwell Council on our job vacancies page

To apply for a job with Sandwell Council, you need to complete an online application form which is accessible from the job advert page.

The online application form contains several sections where you will be asked to provide your personal and employment details.

It is important you demonstrate on your application that you meet the essential criteria listed on the person specification therefore, you must give examples where possible of how you meet the criteria and possess the qualities required.

For some jobs, particularly where they are of a specialist nature, or where we expect a large number of applications, you may be asked to prepare a piece of work to send in with your application. It is important that you put as much effort into completing this as you did for the rest of the application as it will form part of the decision whether you should be called in for interview or not.

The application form is designed to enable you to give the shortlisting panel full and clear information about yourself.  Every application is given equal consideration, and if the shortlisting panel feel you meet the essential requirements listed on the personal specification you will be shortlisted and invited to the next stage of the selection process which could be a skills test, a presentation, a formal interview or a combination of these.

No job applicant will receive less favourable treatment on the grounds of sex, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origins, marital status, disability, sexual orientation, age, trade union activity, political or religious belief.

Job sharing may be considered for all posts unless otherwise stated.

Depending on the role you apply for, you may be subject to a satisfactory disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (known as a DBS check). For further information, please view our Recruitment DBS checks guidance.

If your role is based in either a School or a residential education centre, or you are required to have a DBS (regulated activity) check to enter a School to carry out your duties, pre-employment checks will be carried out in line with the Department of Education KCSIE 2022.

If you have a disability and require assistance in making an application, or have experienced a problem whilst applying for a position, please contact the Resourcing team on 0121 569 3300 or via e-mail: hr_resourcing@sandwell.gov.uk
