Sandwell Council's Twitter Rules
We use the @SandwellCouncil Twitter account to share news, events and information about Sandwell and the council in general. Twitter is also used by several other teams and services across the council.
Twitter is a great way for you to ask questions or to get help with a problem.
If you follow us on Twitter, you can expect us to tweet Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm.
We generally monitor our Twitter accounts during normal office hours, but we may occasionally tweet during evenings and weekends.
Please remember, you might have to wait until the next working day for an answer to your question or query.
If it is an emergency and you need urgent help or advice outside office hours, please get in touch quickly using our emergency contact numbers.
We like to chat and join in conversations on Twitter, and we respond to as many people as we can. However, we cannot guarantee replies to all direct messages and @mentions.
Following and retweeting
We will sometimes follow the Twitter accounts of individuals or organisations (for example central government accounts, local media, and our partners).
There will also be times we'll need to follow an account in order to take part in conversations.
If you follow one of our Twitter accounts, we will not automatically follow you in return. It should be noted that being followed by @SandwellCouncil or any other official council Twitter account does not imply an endorsement of products or services of any kind.
We may retweet information that we think will be of interest to our followers; however please don't take offence if we don't share your tweet with our followers.
In addition to The Twitter Rules we have our own rules.
Sandwell Council reserves the right to extend these rules at any time.
We may not respond to you and/or we may block your account without explanation or notice if you:
- Make offensive, derogatory or profane Tweets directed at the council, councillors or council staff
- Cause disruption or inconvenience to the council by repeatedly @mentioning our Twitter accounts
- Breach any of The Twitter Rules.
Sandwell Council reserves the right to block any user or account that is deemed in violation of these Twitter rules or any applicable law.
