What can you do if you’ve received a Reminder, Final Notice, Summons or 14 Day Notice

If you have received one of the above notices, there are several options available to you online:

Council Tax bill and instalments

Every household needs to pay Council Tax, although some people have their bills reduced for a number of reasons. When there is an amount to pay, payments should be made on or before the due date. If you pay late, or make lower payments, you may be subject to recovery proceedings.

Council Tax is a yearly charge normally paid in ten monthly instalments, starting in April and ending in January. You can pay over twelve months from April to March. If you would like to pay over 12 months instead of 10 please contact us or apply in writing to Sandwell MBC (Council Tax), PO Box 10597, Nottingham, NG6 6DQ

Your bill shows your exact payment dates and amounts. Your instalments must be paid by the date shown on your bill (usually 1stof each month unless you pay by Direct Debit.) If you have arrears from a previous year on your account it is particularly important that you pay the exact amount of the instalment or the payment will be allocated to your arrears instead.

Any changes to your Council Tax account will result in an amended bill being sent to you. You should make the payments as shown on your latest bill.

If your payment is late, too low or if no payment is received, the flowchart below gives an overview of the recovery process that may begin against you:
