Crisis Payment Scheme

Our Crisis Payment Scheme, part of the Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF), provides emergency financial support to low-income households facing unexpected hardship, financial shocks or crises, such as fire or flooding, domestic abuse, a health emergency, loss of income, stolen money, or the breakdown of essential household items.

Residents aged 18 or over who live in Sandwell, are responsible for household costs and can demonstrate financial hardship may be eligible, even if they do not receive benefits. Support may be available for food, essential living costs, gas and electricity (pre-payment meters), travel, furniture, white goods and some disability equipment.

Households struggling with additional food costs during the school summer holidays may also be able to apply for food support. Applications are assessed individually, awards are discretionary, and households can normally receive a maximum of three awards in a 12‑month period.
