Sandwell Council is once again joining forces with police and partners to deliver Safer 6 2026 – a six-week programme of action focused on making communities cleaner, safer and stronger.
Running from 8 June to 19 July 2026, Safer 6 will bring a coordinated programme of activities to each of Sandwell’s six towns, tackling crime, anti-social behaviour and environmental issues while engaging directly with residents.
This year’s campaign follows the theme “Six weeks. Six towns. One Safer Sandwell.”
Across each week, there will be a wide range of activities delivered by council teams, West Midlands Police, West Midlands Fire Service and community partners.
Safer 6 will see visible action taking place in neighbourhoods, including:
- Joint police and council enforcement operations
- Action on littering and environmental crime
- Trading standards checks and consumer protection work
- Support and advice on community safety, fire safety and road safety
- Healthy living advice and activities to support residents’ wellbeing
- Youth engagement and safeguarding initiatives
- Community events and opportunities to meet local teams
The campaign is designed to not only tackle issues directly but also reassure residents and connect them with year-round services and support.
Councillor Bob Jones, Cabinet Member for Environment and Enforcement, said:
“Safer 6 is about taking visible, coordinated action where it matters most – in our communities. By bringing together council services, police and partners, we can tackle issues like anti-social behaviour and environmental crime head-on.
“Just as importantly, it shows residents that we are listening and taking action to keep Sandwell clean, safe and a place we can all be proud of.”
Chief Superintendent Kim Madill, of West Midlands Police and Chair of the Safer Sandwell Partnership, said:
“Safer 6 is a vital opportunity for us to work side by side with Sandwell Council and our partners as we do all year round, to address the issues that matter most to local people. Our officers will be out in communities, taking action against crime and anti-social behaviour while also building trust and strengthening relationships with residents.
“By working together, we can make a real difference in keeping Sandwell’s neighbourhoods safe and ensuring people feel confident and supported where they live.”
