Sandwell Council is celebrating the success of Q3 Academy Langley after the school was officially named a Lead Hub School by the Department for Education (DfE).

The school has ben named for its exceptional work in behaviour and attendance; an achievement that strongly reflects the principles of Child Friendly Sandwell, where children feel safe, are supported to grow and thrive, and where their voices and wellbeing are prioritised.

Since opening almost ten years ago in a unique partnership with Sandwell Council, Q3 Academy Langley has become nationally recognised for creating a calm, purposeful and highly supportive learning environment. Students attend regularly and punctually, and their conduct is consistently positive; outcomes which the DfE has highlighted as areas of significant strength.

Councillor Harnoor Bhullar, Sandwell Council’s Cabinet Member for Education, visited Q3 Academy Langley to congratulate staff and students on their achievement and to see first-hand how the school’s culture aligns with the borough’s Child Friendly Sandwell ambition.

Cllr Bhullar said:
“Q3 Academy Langley is a wonderful example of Child Friendly Sandwell in action. This is a school where children feel safe, respected and able to thrive. Their outstanding approach to behaviour and attendance shows what happens when young people are supported to flourish and when their voices truly matter. I am incredibly proud that the DfE has recognised their work nationally, and I know they will make a real difference as they support other schools across Sandwell and the wider West Midlands.”

Q3 Headteacher Peter Lee welcomed the recognition, saying:
“We are thrilled to be named as a Lead Hub School by the Department for Education and look forward to supporting schools both here in Sandwell and across the West Midlands in the coming months.”

The achievement reflects the school’s commitment to ensuring every pupil receives the nurture, consistency and high expectations needed to succeed; values that sit at the heart of the Child Friendly Sandwell principles.

Sandwell Council will continue to work closely with Q3 Academy Langley and other local schools to ensure children and young people across the borough are heard, valued and supported to achieve their full potential.
