Sandwell Council has been awarded a further £27million in its 3-year financial settlement from the Government.
Leader of the Council Cllr Kerrie Carmichael said:
“This additional funding will make a real difference to people in Sandwell. We want to deliver a great future for Sandwell, where everyone can be proud to call this their home. That’s why we will be putting this money towards tackling the real causes of deprivation - not with one off solutions - but to bring about meaningful change in people’s lives for generations to come.”
The Government introduced the Recovery Grant in 2024 to provide additional support to local authorities with higher levels of deprivation and need but limited ability to raise income locally. Since the Government published their provisional local government finance settlement in December 2025, Sandwell Council, the local Sandwell MPs and West Midlands Mayor Richard Parker have lobbied for additional funding for Sandwell.
Cllr Paul Moore, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Resources said:
“I’d like to thank the Government for listening to Sandwell and providing this additional funding.
“We are proud to be a caring council that gets things done, and are totally focused on getting things right for our residents. Our budget proposals are intended to make sure we are funding high-quality services that are easy to use and working for the people who need them. We want to use this extra money in every town in Sandwell to really make a long-term difference in boosting people’s life chances.”
