Garden waste bin

Residents in Sandwell can now sign up for the fortnightly 2026 garden waste collection service which starts in March.

The subscription cost has been frozen at £40, which covers up to 20 collections, running until mid-December 2026. Residents can subscribe by completing the online subscription form.

Garden waste collections will resume in March 2026, starting over a two-week period:

  • Week one: commencing 2 March 2026
  • Week two: commencing 9 March 2026

Some households may have a new garden waste collection day following the introduction of Alternate Weekly Collections (AWC). Residents can check when their bin will be collected by using the online bin day finder closer to when garden waste collections start from 2 March.

Subscribers will receive a maximum of 20 collections, depending on when they sign up. If a resident subscribes part way through the year, the permit will cover only the remaining collections available until December 2026.

Councillor Keith Allcock, Sandwell Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Highways, said: “We know how important garden waste collections are for residents and by keeping the subscription cost frozen at £40, we’re continuing to offer a reliable and good value for money service.

“Collections will return in March 2026, helping residents keep their gardens tidy while disposing of waste in an environmentally responsible way.”

Households that subscribed in 2025 must renew their subscription to continue receiving garden waste collections in 2026. The 2026 permit sticker replaces the 2025 sticker.

Subscribers will receive a permit sticker to attach to their garden waste bin. If more than one subscription is purchased, a permit sticker must be attached to each bin.

Please note that it can take up to five working days for a subscription to activate on the system. If a resident signs up less than five days before their next scheduled collection, they will not receive a collection until the following collection date.

Residents can sign up for the service or find out more about garden waste collections on the council website.
