Sandwell Council is inviting residents and people from further afield to join Sandwell’s annual Armed Forces Day on Saturday 28 June 2025 from 10.45am to 4pm at the Civic Square, Oldbury.

Join us to celebrate and honour the men and women who have served and sacrificed in the armed forces. This free event will begin at 10.45am with a small parade, followed by a short service at the War Memorial at 11am. Afterwards, enjoy live entertainment, various activities and stalls until 4pm.

On this day, you can expect to see local retired and active service groups hosting information stalls. This offers a wonderful opportunity to meet veterans and serving personnel, hear their inspiring stories and learn how you can support them now and in the future. Military equipment, including an army Land Rover and a JCB, will be on-site for visitors to explore.

There will be entertainment for the entire family, with a Home Guard reenactment group bringing history to life. Visitors can experience the Home Guard recruitment process, see medical and radio signalling equipment, and even participate in a foot drill. Experience the vibrant atmosphere with fabulous 1940s-style singing and dancing, along with market stalls where you can discover and support local businesses.

The Mayor of Sandwell, Councillor Steve Melia, said:

“I would like to invite everyone to this event which marks the service and sacrifice that generations of Sandwell people have given to the armed forces and our country.  For our tomorrow, they gave their today.”
