People are urged to join Sandwell Stride walks during Mental Health Awareness Week 2025 (12 to 18 May) to help boost their health and meet new people.
Walkers are encouraged to wear something green – whether socks, hats, jackets, T-shirt or scarves – to link with the ‘Wear it Green’ theme of the awareness week.
All regular Sandwell Stride walks are due to take place during Mental Health Awareness Week which will be a great opportunity for new walkers to join.
Walk leaders will be provided with information packs to highlight mental health and wellbeing support available in Sandwell.
Councillor Jackie Taylor, Sandwell Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Services, Health and Wellbeing, will be joining the Brunswick Park walk in Wednesbury on Monday 12 May at 10.30am to launch Mental Health Awareness Week in Sandwell and meet the walk leaders and walkers.
Councillor Taylor said: “We are committed to making sure people have access to any support they need to improve their mental health, and we know our green spaces are important places to help people maintain good physical and mental health.
“The goal of the week is to promote the benefits of connecting with others and how regular physical activity can improve your mental health and overall wellbeing.
“Sandwell Stride walks contribute to all of these aspects and are held weekly across Sandwell. This is why they are the perfect place to promote Mental Health Awareness Week, to meet new people, start conversations and let everyone know the range of support that is available.
“We will continue to invest in community-based preventative mental health and wellbeing programmes.”
