Certain properties are exempt from business rates.
Low Rateable Value Exemption Reviews
From February 2023, Sandwell Council will be commencing a review of businesses in receipt of a Low Rateable value Exemption via an online form.
Businesses will be contacted by letter when they are required to complete the review.
Empty properties
In most cases you don't have to pay business rates on empty buildings for 3 months (or 6 months for Industrial properties). After this time most businesses must pay full business rates.
You need to contact us as soon as possible to let us know when your property becomes vacant. Any delay may affect your relief.
