The Council can impose weight restrictions on public roads for structural or for environmental reasons. Such restrictions prevent large vehicles from using inappropriate roads, routes and areas.

The following gives details of these roads and areas, the weight restriction imposed and whether the restriction is for structural or environmental reasons.

  • Merrions Close, Great Barr 7 ½ Tonnes for its entire length.
  • Coronation Road, Great Barr 7 ½ Tonnes for its entire length.
  • The Grove, Great Barr 7 ½ Tonnes for its entire length.
  • Coles Lane, West Bromwich 7 ½ Tonnes from its junction with the Broadway to its junction with The Broadway to its junction with Hill Top.

Width and Environmental Weight Limit

7 ½ tonnes width should not exceed 2m or 6' 6"

  • Moor Lane Rowley Regis from its junction with Highams Close to the junction with Ross / Siviters Lane.
  • Yew Tree Lane Rowley Regis from its junction with Admirals Way to the junction with Moor Lane

An environmental weight limit will not be imposed on A or B classified roads, but residents may request a weight restriction for their road and this will be fully assessed in accordance with the council approved method.

The assessment process considers:

  • The number of HGV's actually using the road
  • The 5 year personal injury accident statistics
  • The physical characteristics of the road
  • Frontage usage of the road
  • Pedestrian usage
