2023 Review of Parliamentary Constituencies

The statutory public consultation periods have now closed for this review. The Boundary Commission is currently considering all the responses received in the final consultation in order to develop final recommendations, which should be ready for publication by 1 July 2023.

We've broken down details below to show how the proposals would affect voting in a general election in Sandwell.

Proposals for constituencies in Sandwell

A number of changes are being proposed for constituencies in Sandwell.

Proposed changes to Warley constituency

The Warley constituency is currently made up of the following wards:

  • Abbey
  • Bristnall   
  • Langley    
  • Old Warley    
  • Smethwick   
  • Soho and Victoria  
  • St Pauls

The proposed changes would create a constituency called Smethwick, which would include the following wards:

  • Abbey
  • Bristnall
  • Langley
  • Old Warley
  • Smethwick
  • Soho and Victoria
  • St Pauls
  • The majority of Blackheath ward

Proposed changes to West Bromwich East constituency

The West Bromwich East constituency is currently made up of the following wards:

  • Charlemont with Grove Vale
  • Friar Park
  • Great Barr with Yew Tree
  • Greets Green and Lyng
  • Hateley Heath
  • Newton
  • West Bromwich Central

The proposed changes would create a constituency called West Bromwich, which would include the following wards:

  • Charlemont with Grove Vale
  • Great Barr with Yew Tree
  • Greets Green and Lyng
  • Newton
  • West Bromwich Central
  • Rowley
  • Oldbury
  • Tividale

Proposed changes to West Bromwich West constituency

The West Bromwich West constituency is currently made up of the following wards:

  • Great Bridge
  • Oldbury
  • Princes End
  • Tipton Green
  • Tividale
  • Wednesbury North
  • Wednesbury South

The proposed changes would create a constituency called Tipton and Wednesbury, which would include the following wards:

  • Great Bridge
  • Princes End
  • Tipton Green
  • Wednesbury North
  • Wednesbury South
  • Coseley East (part of Dudley borough) 
  • Friar Park
  • Hateley Heath

Proposed changes to Halesowen and Rowley Regis constituency

The Halesowen and Rowley Regis constituency (which covers parts of Sandwell and Dudley borough) is currently made up of the following wards:

  • Belle Vale (part of Dudley borough)
  • Blackheath (in Sandwell)
  • Cradley Heath and Old Hill (in Sandwell)
  • Halesowen North (part of Dudley borough)
  • Halesowen South (part of Dudley borough)
  • Hayley Green and Cradley South (part of Dudley borough)
  • Rowley (in Sandwell)

The proposed changes would create a constituency called Halesowen which would include the following wards:

  • Belle Vale (part of Dudley borough)
  • Blackheath (a small part only)
  • Cradley Heath and Old Hill (in Sandwell)
  • Halesowen North (part of Dudley borough)
  • Halesowen South (part of Dudley borough)
  • Hayley Green and Cradley South (part of Dudley borough)
  • Cradley and Wollescote (part of Dudley borough) 
  • Quarry Bank and Dudley Wood (part of Dudley borough)
