Advice and information for businesses

Regulatory services - which includes trading standards, environmental health, and licensing - protects the public, consumers, businesses and communities.

The service also plays an important role supporting local businesses and boosting economic growth by helping them to understand and comply with legislation, and also by tackling rogue businesses which undermine reputable businesses and consumer confidence.

If your businesses needs basic advice - such as signposting you to the right legislation or government department, or web-based advice - this is available to all businesses at no charge. We also give free advice regarding issues such as inspections, investigations and complaints from consumers.

Working with business and those we regulate

In your dealings with us you can expect, and will receive, an efficient and professional service.

We want to work with you to help your business to be a success, and it is important to us that you feel able to come to us for advice when you need it. We will not take enforcement action just because you tell us that you have a problem.

We have a duty to publish an enforcement policy, which sets how we will go about promoting compliance.
