Residents help shape the future of housing at Tenant and Leaseholder Conference
Tenants and leaseholders from across Sandwell came together at West Bromwich Town Hall on Saturday 5 September for our Tenant and Leaseholder Conference 2026.
The event gave residents the chance to hear about changes taking place in Sandwell Housing, meet staff, ask questions and share their views on the services that matter most to them.
The day opened with a welcome from Councillor Ken Parsons, followed by a guest presentation from Claudia Cobban from the Regulator of Social Housing. Residents also watched a celebration film showcasing the achievements and contributions of tenants across Sandwell.
Throughout the day, tenants heard from our Tenant Auditors and took part in a Question Time panel. The panel included Councillor Ken Parsons, Claudia Cobban, Nigel Collumbell and Sarah Ager. Residents were able to raise issues, ask questions and discuss topics important to their communities.
During lunch, attendees visited a marketplace area where they could speak directly with teams from across the housing service and partner organisations. The marketplace gave residents the opportunity to learn more about the support available to them and the work being carried out across Sandwell.
The afternoon session included feedback from children and young people who attended the event. And we were treated to singing and dancing.
Residents also heard a poem from a member of the Tenant and Leaseholder Scrutiny Group, celebrating the positive role tenants play in helping improve services.
One of the most popular parts of the day was the "Meet Your Teams" session. Housing staff joined residents at their tables to explain their roles, answer questions and talk about how different teams work together to support tenants and leaseholders.
The conference closed with a prize draw and a thank you to everyone who attended and contributed.
