This guide does not cover waste from businesses. Trade waste is dealt with separately and cannot be taken to the Household Recycling Centre (tip)

Every household in England can recycle a common set of materials. The materials are:

  • paper,
  • card,
  • plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays (not black plastic)
  • glass and metal packaging
  • cartons

These items should be free from food waste, oil, embellishments such as ribbons and metal, sticky tape.

REMEMBER - from 15 September all households must separate paper and card from their usual recycling waste that goes into the recycling (blue lid) and put it in the new recycling (blue) bag. The new recycling (blue) bag will be delivered between 26 August and 14 September.
