Pride in Place Funds
Smethwick, Friar Park and Tividale has been identified to benefit from up to £20 million investment over 10-years through the Governments Pride in Place Programme.
This long-term programme is designed to support communities to improve their neighbourhood's area and strengthen local pride. It focuses on:
- Creating thriving places
- Building stronger neighbourhoods
- Giving communities more control over local decisions
Each Pride in Place area has its own Neighbourhood Board to oversee the delivery of the programme.

Community Infrastructure Levy Grants
Community Infrastructure Levy Grants of up to £5,000 are available to Community Groups to enhance their work. Funding can only be spent on capital costs such as sports equipment, furniture, some renovations or IT equipment.
Groups wishing to apply for grants should ensure that their projects meet Sandwell Council’s 2030 Ambitions and are encouraged to provide match funding.
Eligible organisations include constituted community groups, registered charities, social Enterprises (i.e. CICs), Schools or Academies (where the project benefits the wider community) and faith groups/organisations. Businesses are not eligible to receive CIL Funding.
Your group will need to provide the following information for your proposal to be considered
- A copy of the current constitution for your community group or organisation
- A list of current management board members for your community group or organisation
- A copy of your organisation’s bank statements for the last three consecutive months – as payments can only be made directly to the organisation
- Current and valid quotes for the items included in your proposal
- Evidence of a local consultation being completed in support of your proposal
