The person you report the abuse to will ask you some questions about your concerns. You may want to speak to them without telling them who you are.
They will make sure that immediate action is taken so that the person at risk is safe. The person will be given advice and offered choices about the next steps.
Information will be gathered from other witnesses or sources.
Agencies, such as the NHS and the council, work together to discuss the way forward and make decisions about what will happen next. This will be set out in a safeguarding plan. This may involve preventing harm to other adults at risk nearby.
The safeguarding plan will be followed up to make sure that everything is happening as it should be.
