Online procurement opportunities

The council has changed the way in which they advertise their procurement opportunities. Opportunities are advertised on the Intend portal.

We aim to boost the Black Country economy by giving local businesses, social enterprises and the voluntary sector the support and contacts they need to pitch for and win bigger contracts. The Think Sandwell site provides a single gateway for local companies, organisations and their business needs, including advertising council, partner organisation and voluntary sector procurement and networking opportunities.

Think Sandwell is linked to the council’s electronic tendering system. View our current tenders.

Procurement

We spend £220 million on various goods and services.

The council is required to ensure that value for money is obtained, statutory requirements are met in terms of UK and EU law, and the council's affairs are managed prudently and properly controlled.

If you require any clarification with regard to the council's procurement policies and procedures please email: procurement_SMBC@sandwell.gov.uk

Important information for Suppliers to Sandwell: Upcoming changes to our Finance & Procurement system

Sandwell Council is upgrading its Finance & Procurement systems and will launch Oracle Fusion Cloud in the second half of 2024.

For Suppliers, this change means:

  • Suppliers will need to ensure that Sandwell holds their correct contact information, including a remittance email address.
  • The option to use a dedicated portal for managing contact and bank details, submitting invoices, and tracking payments
  • Email will be the default communication method
  • All invoices will require a purchase order number (PO#) for payment eligibility

Suppliers can expect more details on this change in early 2024, including information about the supplier portal and Oracle Cloud migration.

For questions or participation in portal testing, please contact Oracle_project@sandwell.gov.uk
