Services

Booking times are offered at 45 minute intervals. Families are allowed up to 30 minutes for the service.

A waiting room is situated close to the chapel entrance for those who arrive early to a service.

The chapel has comfortable seating for 150 people with a balcony area and additonal standing space.

There is a picture window in the chapel providing views across the landscape of Sandwell Valley towards Hamstead.

We know it's not always possible for everyone to attend a funeral service and that this can be distressing.

We can arrange for a service to be recorded onto a DVD and this can be purchased to share with friends and relatives.

Families are able to arrange a slideshow or video to be played during the service. Your Funeral Director will be able to help you with this service.

A viewing area is provided for those who wish to witness the beginning of the cremation process.

Car parking

Sandwell Valley Crematorium has a large car park which includes six easy access spaces and a dedicated coach parking bay.

When leaving your service, the covered walkway will lead you back to the pick-up point and car park.

Grounds

The grounds are a mixture of formal lawns and informal tree planting which leads to part of the original Haypits Woods. In addition, a number of flower beds and trees add interest and variety to the grounds, providing an ideal location for prayer and quiet reflection.

Maps of the grounds are available from the administration office at the crematorium.

Within the grounds, a range of a range of memorials are available for those wishing to commemorate their loved ones. Memorial advisors are based in the main office at the crematorium.

Music

The music system in the chapel allows families to have any music of their choice played during the service, without the need for a CD.

If you want to see a list of what music is available, visit Obitus website. If you would like a song that is not on this list then let your funeral director know.

There is an organ in the chapel, speak to your funeral director if you would like to arrange for an organist to play at the service.

Reception Suite

Hire a room at our Reception Suite at Sandwell Valley Crematorium.

Coffee Crèm

We have a coffee shop on site open six days a week from 9am to 3pm, serving hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, snacks and breakfasts.

The cafe will be closed from:

  • Saturday 23 December 2023 and will reopen on Thursday 28 December 2023
  • Monday 1 January 2024 and will reopen on Tuesday 2 January 2024

Pet Memorial Garden

We have a pet memorial garden where you are able to leave a lasting memorial to your family pet.

Removal of flowers

On exiting the chapel there is a covered walkway for families to leave flowers. Flowers will be left on display for seven days with removal on the morning of the eighth day, the day of the funeral service is considered the first day.

Please contact us if you would like to collect the flowers after a service.

Please be aware that flowers will be removed before 9am.
