Renew a book or other item

Borrowed a book or other item and want to keep it for longer?

You can borrow books, CDs, DVDs and computer games for longer by renewing online, over the phone or at any Sandwell library.

Renew books or other items online

As long as it hasn't been reserved, you can renew any book up to twelve times. CDs, DVDs and computer games can be renewed twice and will require an additional hire charge to be paid.

But if your item has been reserved by someone else, you won't be able to renew it and you must return it by the due date.

Library app on a phone screen Download our app

If you have a smartphone or tablet you can use our library app to renew items or browse our catalogue.

Download the LibraryAnywhere app. It's free, easy to use, links in with your library account and is compatible with iPhone and Android.

Call our hotline

We also have a 24 hour renewals hotline, 0845 352 4949. You will be asked to enter your library card number, without the "B" at the beginning. Calls cost 7p per minute plus your phone company's access charge. This number will be changing to a local 0121 number in the near future.

Renew at the library

You can renew your items at any Sandwell library. You can also return items to any Sandwell library when you have finished with them.

If you want to renew the item at the library, you don't need to take the item, just your membership card.

If a book or other item is already overdue you may still renew it - but you will have to pay any fines you owe on your next visit to a Sandwell library.

Reserve a book or other item

Use our Online Services website to find a book, CD, DVD or computer game and if we have it, you can reserve it. We'll even send it to your nearest library for you to collect.
