The Home Upgrade Grant (HUG) is a government-funded grant scheme that provides energy efficiency upgrades and low carbon heating to low-income households.

To help homeowners reduce their energy costs, we are working in partnership with the West Midlands Combined Authority and Marches Energy Agency to deliver a scheme so that Sandwell homeowners can receive fully-funded energy upgrades.

If you own your home, you may be entitled to funding for insulation, double glazing and improved heating.

You may be eligible for this scheme if you meet all of the following:

  • You own your home (you are not renting);
  • Your home is not heated by gas;
  • Your household income is under £36,000 (including any benefits you may receive), and;
  • Your home has an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating between D and G (an EPC can be provided if you don’t already have one.)

If you meet the above criteria, you could receive fully funded energy efficiency measures such as insulation, solar panels, heating upgrades and more.

These measures will help reduce your energy bills, lower your carbon footprint, and make your home more comfortable and healthier to live in.
