Urban Design and Building Services
Urban Design and Building Services (UBDS) is a specialist ‘one stop’ design and maintenance team. Based within Sandwell Council, UDBS’ national award-winning services are also available to outside organisations for public-funded projects.
UDBS’ design services include:
* Architecture and landscaping
* Quantity surveying and project management
* Interior design
* Engineering design – structural and civil engineering
* Site surveying and quality inspection
* Demolition
* Geotechnical support.
UDBS also looks after existing buildings, ensuring local facilities comply with legislation and can be kept open, functional and safe for the people who use them.
UDBS’ repairs and maintenance services include:
* Strategic maintenance for ongoing compliance
* Statutory inspections and cyclical monitoring and remedial work
* Reactive maintenance and repairs – including a 24/7 callout service
* Water hygiene management – including for specialist water systems such as swimming pools, fountains and water play features
* Assessing and managing asbestos, fire and glazing risks
* Energy management (use, costs and carbon emissions).
UDBS has been designing buildings and outside spaces, managing construction contracts and looking after local facilities since 1997.
