This page brings together upcoming events, activities and drop-in sessions led by Sandwell Council and local partners, all focused on keeping our communities safe, healthy and connected. From wellbeing support and health advice to crime prevention and community engagement, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved, access support and meet the teams working in your area.
In addition to the events listed, the council’s Grounds Maintenance Team will be carrying out work to cut back and clear the footpaths behind Ross Heights and off Wrights Lane, helping to improve visibility and safety. Our Trading Standards, Environmental Health and waste (SERCO) teams will also be visiting local businesses, and an air pollution awareness assembly will be delivered at Oakham Primary School to help educate young people on environmental health and wellbeing. Highfields and Blackheath Primary Schools will host a Child and Passenger Safety session with pupils, delivered by the Council's Road Safety Team and our Green Team will be carrying out health and safety inspections in Britannia Park.
Our Housing Services team, working alongside West Midlands Fire Service, will also be delivering fire safety awareness sessions at St Giles Court and Moorlands Court.
Alongside these activities, our Recylcling Support Officers will be out and about in Tividale offering help and support on all things waste recycling.

West Bromwich Building Society - How to avoid scams and on-line fraud
Residents are being invited to attend a free talk on the risk of scams an on-line fraud.
Delivered by local West Bromwich Buiding Society people will learn about whattoo look out for and what to do if you think you have been scammed.
Sandwell Safe Spaces Awareness Session
Drop by Sanisburys in Blackheath and find out more about the Sandwell Safe Places Scheme with the Community Safety Team. This informal session will raise awareness of how the scheme supports people who may feel vulnerable when out and about, and how local businesses and venues can help.

Just Youth – Safer 6 Youth Bus
After school, come and chill at Just Youth! Drop by the Youth Bus to hang out, meet new people, take part in activities and get support if you need it.

Bumblehole Comunity Litter Pick
Organised by the council's Neighbourhood Services, groups and individuals can turn up and get involved in keeping the reserve free from litter.

Learn Lifesaving Skills at a Free Community Training Session (18+)
Residents are being invited to attend a free, hands-on training session at Blackheath Library, designed to give you the confidence and skills to save a life in an emergency.
Delivered by Sandwell Council’s Public Health Team in partnership with Hearts in the Community, this session will cover how to use a defibrillator and how to respond to serious bleeding incidents. These vital skills can make a real difference in the critical moments before emergency services arrive.
The training is open to everyone, with no prior experience needed. Friendly, experienced instructors will guide you step-by-step, making it easy to understand what to do and when to act. Whether you’re a local resident, community volunteer or simply want to feel more prepared, this session is a great opportunity to learn something that could help save a life.
Taking just a short amount of time, the session offers practical knowledge, reassurance and the chance to ask questions in a supportive environment.

If you’re aged 50+, why not drop in to a free Falls Prevention session led by the Public Health Team? These friendly sessions offer simple, practical advice to help you stay steady, active and independent.
Learn how to reduce your risk of falls, improve your balance and strength, and make small changes at home that can help keep you safe. Preventing falls can help you avoid injury, maintain your confidence, and continue enjoying everyday life.

Reporting Hate Crime
Come along to this free, drop-in session hosted by the Community Safety Team. Find out how to recognise and report hate crime, learn about support available, and speak to friendly staff in a safe, welcoming space.

these sessions are hosted by jointly by Barclays Bank, Libraries, Community Safety and ASB Teams togther with West idlands Police. Drop by Blackhetah Library and find out more about banking fraud and scams how to spot them and what to do if you fell you have been scammed.
Men’s Mental Health Morning
A men’s morning to talk about the help and support available to men across Sandwell, understand the issues and challenges for men at this current time and share ideas on how to make things better, build connections and relationships, hear about the services of Sandwell Talking Therapies, Tough Enough to Care, the You OK Mate campaign and local groups and activities.
