Who can apply?
You can usually apply if you:
- Are a secure Sandwell Council tenant
- Have a secure or assured tenancy with another council or housing association
- Want to move to a property that is suitable for your household
Who may not be able to apply?
You may not qualify if you have:
- An introductory tenancy
- A demoted tenancy
- An assured shorthold tenancy
- A licence agreement rather than a tenancy
Property size and suitability
We normally approve exchanges only where the property is suitable for the household moving in.
We will not usually approve an exchange if it would:
- Cause overcrowding
- Leave a property significantly under-occupied
- Result in a household moving to housing where it does not meet any age or support requirements
