Before You Agree to an Exchange

Visit the property

Always visit the property before agreeing to an exchange.

Check the property carefully

Make sure:

  • The location suits your needs
  • The number of bedrooms is suitable
  • The condition of the property is acceptable
  • You understand any alterations or improvements that have been made
  • You ask about any repairs or known issues

Your responsibilities

When a mutual exchange is completed, you will usually accept the property in its current condition.

You may become responsible for some alterations, improvements or non-standard fittings left by the previous tenant.

If you are unsure, ask questions before the exchange is approved.
