It is your responsibility as a tenant to keep your property and garden (if applicable) in good condition, clean, tidy and free from vermin.
If however for any reason you are struggling to maintain your property and/or garden please contact your Housing Team on 0121 368 1166 or via email: Housing_Hub@sandwell.gov.uk so that we can arrange to assist you where possible.
For tenants over 60 years old, in receipt of a disability benefit and with no family or friends who can assist with the maintenance of the garden, we offer a once a year service to cut grass and/or hedges down to a reasonable level.
If you think that you qualify for assistance a garden request can be complete via MySandwell.
Neighbour's Garden
If a neighbouring garden is overgrown and causing a nuisance, you can report this using our Anti-Social Behaviour portal:

What action can the council take?
In the first instance, the Council will aim to support tenants to manage and maintain their gardens as part of their tenancy responsibilities. This support may include:
- Creating a support plan with clear, manageable tasks
- Setting realistic timescales for improvements
- Referrals to other services where appropriate, such as Environmental Health
If the property is a council tenancy and the garden is not maintained despite support, the Council may carry out the work on the tenant’s behalf and recover the cost from the tenant.
