Shortlisting
Why your shortlist position changes
Your position can change up until midnight on Monday.
This happens when:
- people with higher priority apply
- people withdraw their bids
What ‘may become available’ means
This means the current tenant has given notice and plans to move.
We advertise these homes early so they can be offered quickly.
Sometimes the property may not become available if the tenant changes their mind.
How to check if a property is suitable
You can only bid for properties you are eligible for based on size.
Each advert shows the property criteria, which is based on:
- the Housing Allocations Policy
- any Local Lettings Plan
If you do not meet the criteria, you cannot apply.
How properties are allocated
We consider applicants in the highest band first.
Within each band, we look at:
- who has been in the band the longest
Important:
- 30% of houses are shortlisted by registration date only
- this helps people without priority have a chance to be rehoused
Housing associations and private landlords may use their own rules.
