Programme timeline and application rounds

Funding is delivered through a rolling application process with regular closing dates. This means you don’t have just one chance to apply - there are multiple opportunities throughout the year.

How it works

Each round includes two stages:

  • Expression of Interest (EOI) – a short initial submission
  • Full Application – a more detailed proposal (if invited to progress)
Timeline
  • Wednesday 1 July 2026 - Funding opportunity opens
  • Friday 24 July 2026 – Round 1 Expression of Interest closing date
  • Friday 21 August 2026 – Full application closing date and Round 2 EOI closing date
  • Friday 18 September 2026 - Full application closing date and Round 3 EOI closing date
  • Friday 23 October 2026 - Full application closing date and Round 4 EOI closing date
  • Friday 20 November 2026 - Full application closing date and Round 5 EOI closing date
  • Friday 8 January 2027 - Full application closing date
Do I have to submit a full application by the next closing date?

No, you do not have to submit your full application by the next available closing date.

If you need more time to develop your proposal, you can submit your full application in a later round.

However, please note:

  • Delaying submission will extend the time it takes to receive a decision
  • Earlier submissions will be assessed sooner

We encourage you to apply when your proposal is ready, but without delaying unnecessarily.

Why we use a rolling process

This approach:

  • Gives you more flexibility to develop your idea
  • Provides multiple opportunities to apply
  • Helps ensure funding decisions are made fairly and consistently
Please note all applicants must contact the Smethwick Neighbourhood Development Officer to discuss their project before completing an Expression of Interest Form.
