Susan Lowry: School Improvement Advisor

Susan first trained and taught in inner-city Bradford before moving to develop her career in Herefordshire; holding many leadership roles, in primary, special and post-16 provision.

Ensuring the best outcomes for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities has been a passion throughout her career, and she has experience of leadership in both specialist and mainstream provision.

As a headteacher, she led her school to an outstanding Ofsted judgement and is proud of the curriculum and experiences that the school offered. Inspecting since 2006, she uses these skills and knowledge to support leaders to effectively self-evaluate and prepare for the rigors of the inspection process.

Always keen to learn and reflect, Susan recently completed a Masters at the University of Birmingham with a focus on ethical leadership and effective governance. She believes that school culture and ethos trump all other leadership activities and that teams can only be successful where trust is valued, nurtured and demonstrated.
