Sandwell Council's role as the Accountable Body

Sandwell Council is the Accountable Body for the Towns Fund Programme and Plan for Neighbourhoods Programme. The Accountable Body will discharge its responsibilities through the Regeneration Programme Management Office, Finance and Regeneration Programme Board as the key structures. A wider support function will be provided by Sandwell Council officers including expertise provided by Legal Services, Democratic Services, Procurement Services and Financial Services.

The Accountable Body is ultimately responsible for ensuring the proper use of funding and the overall success of the programme. It is the entity that holds the financial and legal responsibility for the programme, ensuring compliance with regulations and guidelines. The Accountable Body also provides strategic oversight and decision-making authority and will work closely with the Smethwick Partnership Board and programme support officers to monitor progress, address issues and ensure that the programme remains on track.
