Smethwick Towns Fund Programme

In 2019, the Government launched the Towns Fund Programme - a £3.6 billion initiative to help 101 towns across the country thrive, with up to £25 million available for each town. West Bromwich, Smethwick and Rowley Regis were chosen to benefit from this exciting opportunity.

The goal of the Towns Fund is to support the long-term regeneration of towns by investing in:

  • Urban improvements and land use
  • Education and skills development
  • Better transport and connectivity

To bring this vision to life, Sandwell Council worked closely with local partners, Town Deal Boards and residents to shape detailed Town Investment Plans (TIPs). These plans reflect the unique needs and opportunities in each area and were submitted to the Government in October 2020.

Projects

Across the three towns there are 16 projects in development, including five in Smethwick totalling £23.5 million: -
