Mark Whitehouse
Vice-Chair of the Board
I put myself forward to be a Board Member when the Government announced Friar Park had been granted nearly £20 million by the Government through their Pride in Place Programme, to spend over the next 10 years.
The purpose of the grant is to improve the lives and conditions of Friar Park people. I was honoured to be voted in as Vice-chair.
I have very strong links with Friar Park. Both of my parents were born here, one in Bassett Road, the other in Carisbrooke Road. I grew up on Carisbrooke Road with my Nan taking me to school at the old JEC School in Dorset Road whilst my parents were at work.
Through my background I believe I have the experience and knowledge of our area to be able to offer my help and make a difference. I’m proud to say “I’m a Friar Parker”.
I have helped organise the Stone Cross St Georges Day Event for the last 20 years, which attracts over twenty thousand people. I have also been involved in the organisation of the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal for West Bromwich and West Bromwich Albions Remembrance Fixture every November. I am currently the Chair of the Albion Independent supporters trust and help local charities including the Albion Foundation, homeless charities and I support the West Bromwich Albions Young Academy Footballers.
Let's work together to make Friar Park an area we are all proud to call home.
