We’re pleased to share that our Plan for Neighbourhoods Engagement Report is now available to view online.

During July and August 2025, we undertook a wide range of engagement activities with residents, community groups, organisations, businesses and key stakeholders across Smethwick. Our aim was to understand what matters most to local people and ensure their views inform the town’s long-term regeneration through the Plan for Neighbourhoods Programme.

You can watch our introductory programme video - released ahead of the engagement activities - here.

We gathered feedback through an online survey and eight community workshops held across Smethwick. The survey received 1,641 responses, with 1,324 respondents providing a Smethwick postcode, offering a rich and diverse insight into local priorities. Respondents reflected a broad mix of ages, ethnicities and faiths.

Alongside the survey, our workshops provided deeper opportunities for discussion. Each session began with introductions from Board members and a short film about the Plan for Neighbourhoods programme, before moving into roundtable conversations and mapping activities, while postcard comments captured long-term aspirations for Smethwick’s next 10 years. We welcomed 150 people across these sessions.

We have now developed a full engagement report containing detailed findings, as well as a summary report for a quicker overview.

We want to thank everyone who took the time to participate in the online survey and community workshops. Your contributions have been invaluable in shaping the vision and priorities of the 10-year Regeneration Plan, which we will submit to Government by 28 November 2025. Following submission, we will publish the full plan, along with a summarised version highlighting the key themes.

This is only the beginning. Engagement with residents, community groups and organisations, businesses and partners will continue throughout the programme, ensuring that Smethwick’s communities remain at the heart of shaping its future.
