With the first phase of engagement complete and findings being collated, we would like to share details on what happens next for Smethwick’s Plan for Neighbourhoods Regeneration Plan.
Thank you to everyone who took part in surveys, workshops, and local conversations - your input is helping shape the future of our town. All the feedback is now being analysed and will inform the 10-Year Regeneration Plan, which will be submitted to Government by 28 November 2025.
Alongside drafting the Regeneration Plan, the Board is carefully reviewing how funding will be managed. This involves setting clear application processes, as well as establishing the criteria and eligibility requirements that applicants will need to meet to access funding.
The November submission will outline the approach the Board will take to support projects, but it will not include details of specific projects at this stage. The focus now is on creating a fair and transparent framework that will guide how funding is made available in the future.
Once the plan is submitted in November, the Board is expecting to receive a response from Government in 8 weeks, with funding for project delivery expected to be received shortly after.
In the months between submission and the start of funding, the Board will work on developing detailed application forms, guidance notes, and supporting materials to ensure the application process is straightforward and accessible for all. Communities and organisations will be able to see exactly what is required to apply and how decisions will be made.
All updates, opportunities and guidance will be shared through the Board’s mailing list and published online, keeping everyone informed and ready to take part as soon as applications open.
