We would like to thank everyone who took part in recent engagement activities to help shape Smethwick’s regeneration plans.
Back in March 2025, the Government announced that Smethwick will benefit from up to £20 million of investment over the next ten years through the Plan for Neighbourhoods. As the Smethwick Partnership Board, we are responsible for overseeing this programme locally and for developing a 10-year Regeneration Plan, alongside a 4-year investment plan, to submit to Government by 28 November 2025.
Our plans will focus on the themes set nationally, which reflect many of the priorities our communities already care about:
- Regeneration, High Streets and Heritage
- Housing
- Works, Productivity and Skills
- Cohesion
- Health and Wellbeing
- Transport
- Safety and Security
- Education and Opportunity
To ensure local voices are at the heart of this work, we launched an online survey on 2 July which closed on 22 August. We were delighted to receive over 1,600 responses. In addition, we held eight community workshops across Smethwick between 28 July and 22 August, which more than 140 of you attended.
We are now collating and analysing all of the feedback you have shared with us. A report on the findings will be published in the coming weeks, and we will also send a copy directly to everyone on our mailing list.
This is only the beginning. There will be many more opportunities to engage with us throughout the programme over the coming years. We are always listening, and we want to keep hearing from you.
We are grateful to every single person who took the time to share their thoughts. Your input will play a vital role in shaping plans and making sure this investment has the biggest possible impact for communities across Smethwick.
