The Smethwick Partnership Board is bringing together a diverse group of local voices to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Smethwick

Tasked with guiding the delivery of both the Smethwick Towns Fund and the Plan for Neighbourhoods programmes, the Smethwick Partnership Board is committed to ensuring that the town’s regeneration is driven by the needs and aspirations of its residents.

The Board is made up of members from a variety of sectors, representing the diverse community of Smethwick. This includes local residents, businesses, voluntary and community organisations, public-sector partners, faith groups, and the local MP. By drawing from such a broad spectrum of perspectives, the Board ensures that decisions are grounded in the reality of what matters most to the people of Smethwick.

Chairing the Partnership Board is Alan Taylor, Sandwell Business Ambassador and Business Representative for MI Glass, based in Smethwick. Alan’s leadership will steer the Board as it navigates the goals of both funding programmes.

Established in April 2025, the Smethwick Partnership Board is a refreshed version of the former Smethwick Town Deal Board that was established in 2019, reorganised to meet the government’s requirements for the Plan for Neighbourhoods programme. A call for applications was published in March 2024 and members were selected based on meeting specific criteria. The first meeting of the Smethwick Partnership Board took place in May2024, marking the beginning of an exciting chapter for Smethwick’s future.
