The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) has launched a survey to build a clearer picture of how small businesses access and experience support across England.

FSB wants to understand what business owners consider to be “business support”, identify programmes that have genuinely worked, and look at the role of both public and private sector organisations. The findings will be used to shape practical recommendations for the future.

The research aims to influence meaningful change and help local areas better support their small business communities.

A call for local voices

FSB are encouraging local authorities, business networks and partners to share the link so as many business owners as possible can take part.

The survey asks about business size, turnover, sector, recent experiences of seeking support, and the organisations that have provided practical help. It also explores the challenges businesses expect to face over the next year, the types of support they may need, and any barriers that prevent them from accessing help.

Responses will help FSB understand what works well, where gaps exist, and what improvements would make the biggest difference to small businesses.

How to take part

The survey is open until the end of April, with a possibility of a short extension. Businesses of all sizes and sectors are encouraged to share their views.

By taking part, business owners can help ensure that the voices of small businesses are heard and reflected in future support programmes.
