Apprenticeships in Sandwell
Give a local person a step up in their career and gain a skilled team member for your organisation. Support is available to help Sandwell businesses recruit and train apprentices, including guidance on funding and incentives where available.
What are apprenticeships?
Apprenticeships are training programmes that lead to nationally recognised qualifications. Apprentices gain practical work experience with an employer while also completing structured learning with a college, university or training provider.
Apprenticeships are available across a wide range of sectors including business administration, construction, engineering, hospitality, marketing and many more.
For businesses, taking on an apprentice is a way to develop skills that match your organisation’s needs while supporting workforce development. Government funding is often available to cover most training costs.
Local support for employers
The Think Sandwell Employment and Skills team supports employers across the borough to recruit and train apprentices. The team works with local businesses and training providers to help address skills gaps and create opportunities for local people.
Support can include guidance on recruitment, training providers and available funding. The team is part of the Apprenticeships Ambassador Network West Midlands and continues to promote access to apprenticeships across the region.
