Creative businesses across Sandwell have the chance to apply for the latest West Midlands Create Growth programme, a fully funded six-month business support programme.

Now entering its third year, the programme is funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority and delivered by Creative UK. It offers specialist support for businesses at different stages of their growth journey.

The programme forms part of a wider £25 million package of support for the creative industries across the West Midlands, helping businesses to innovate, develop new skills and attract private investment.

Supporting creative businesses to grow

West Midlands Create Growth offers two tailored support pathways. Stage One is designed for early-stage and micro businesses that are beginning to explore growth and investment opportunities. Participants will benefit from a programme of workshops covering business fundamentals, intellectual property, marketing and investment readiness, alongside five hours of one-to-one coaching and opportunities to develop pitching skills and connect with investors.

Stage Two is aimed at businesses that are already preparing for investment or expansion. Participants will receive more advanced support, including workshops on valuation, governance, financial planning and investment strategy, together with 15 hours of one-to-one mentoring and opportunities to meet and pitch directly to investors.The programme will run from September 2026 to February 2027.

A thriving creative sector in Sandwell

Sandwell is home to a growing community of creative businesses, artists, cultural organisations and freelancers working across a wide range of sectors such as design, digital, performing arts, music, film, photography, publishing and creative technology.

Businesses interested in accessing support and connecting with others in the sector are also encouraged to engage with the Sandwell Cultural Forum.

The Sandwell Cultural Forum is an informal network of cultural and creative organisations, practitioners and community groups who deliver activities, events and creative experiences across the borough. Open to anyone who lives or works in Sandwell, the Forum meets quarterly at different locations across the borough provides opportunities to share ideas, promote activities, access opportunities and build partnerships.

Who can apply?

To be eligible, businesses must be:

  • Registered on Companies House
  • Trading or registered within the West Midlands
  • Operating within a recognised creative industries subsector

Eligible creative sectors include advertising and marketing, architecture, crafts, design and fashion, film and photography, software and gaming, publishing, museums and galleries, and music and performing arts.

The deadline for full applications is Monday 6 July 2026 at 12pm (midday).
