We support Towns Fund investment in Sandwell
Sandwell Business Ambassadors are proud to support the delivery of Towns Fund investment across the borough, helping to ensure it brings lasting benefits for businesses, communities and local people.
Sandwell’s Towns Fund programme is a key part of the borough’s regeneration, and remains a priority for the Ambassadors. Chris Hinson, John Wood DL and Chair Alan Taylor have all played active roles on partnership boards overseeing delivery, helping to ensure the investment achieves the greatest possible impact.
What is the Towns Fund?
The Towns Fund is a government initiative designed to support economic regeneration in towns across England. It focuses on improving infrastructure, supporting businesses, encouraging enterprise and strengthening communities.
Sandwell successfully secured funding for three towns – Rowley Regis, Smethwick and West Bromwich – following a competitive bidding process led by Sandwell Council and its partners.
Investment in Sandwell
Sandwell secured a total of £67.5 million through the Towns Fund programme:
- West Bromwich – £25 million
- Smethwick – £23.5 million
- Rowley Regis – £19 million
This represented one of the largest Towns Fund allocations awarded to any local authority area.
Since approval, projects across the three towns have been progressing through delivery phases, focusing on long-term economic growth, improved infrastructure and enhanced community spaces.
