Build a better understanding of Deaf identity and learn how to create a more inclusive and supportive workplace.
Taking place during Deaf Awareness Week, this online session will be delivered by Kerry Tidman, Deaf therapist, TEDx speaker and founder of The Belonging Dojo. The session will explore how identity, bias and workplace culture shape experiences for Deaf individuals, offering practical insight for organisations looking to improve inclusion.
Understanding Deaf identity and language
The session will explore the difference between Big D and little d Deaf identity, helping attendees better understand how identity and lived experience shape communication and inclusion in the workplace. It will also address why commonly used terms can be outdated or inappropriate.
